Wabi-Sabi: "nothing lasts, nothing is finished and nothing is perfect."

Photos of randomness...

that caught my attention for various reasons or no reason at all.

*Photos from a trip to the old, original location of Western State Hospital, established in 1871. Abandoned, decorated, knocked down, decorated more, and finally cleaned up and laid to rest.  What remains today is the building's footprint, a memorial to the institution and the people who worked, lived, and died there.  Taken in April of 2007, the photos show decades of graffiti along with twisted metal and chunks of broken architecture which made this a most colorful and beautiful, if not haunting, pile of rubble.  Today there are over 3,200 souls buried on the grounds and an ongoing effort to replace hundreds, if not thousands, of missing, damaged, or moved gravemarkers.
